Eden Hazard Rejects Premier League and Saudi Offers, Hints at Retiring from Footbal
Eden Hazard has firmly declined opportunities to sign with a Premier League club and a move to Saudi Arabia, signaling his intent to step away from professional football.
The former Real Madrid record signing made his intentions clear in a preview for the documentary series ‘Believe’ centered around the Belgian national team.
“Gradually, it’s time to savor life with my family and friends, enjoying a few Jupiler beers,” Hazard expressed in the documentary. “I will always be a fan of the (Belgian) Red Devils and of beautiful football, if I could enjoy it. But I’ve always worn that captain’s armband with great honor.”
During his four-year tenure at Real Madrid, Hazard scored fewer than seven goals in 76 appearances, a disappointing return for the €115 million signing—the highest transfer fee ever paid by Real Madrid for a player. This underwhelming performance has led to Hazard being regarded as a significant disappointment during his time in the Spanish capital.
