Dani Ceballos Contemplating January Exit from Stacked Real Madrid Midfield
Real Madrid boasts a midfield department that is arguably one of the best in Europe, with a stacked lineup. This has resulted in legends like Luka Modric and Toni Kroos struggling for game time while emerging talents like Eduardo Camavinga, Fede Valverde, Jude Bellingham, and Aurelien Tchouameni appear to be ahead in the pecking order.
Much attention has been directed toward Luka Modric and his future at the club, but it seems there’s another midfielder eyeing a potential exit in January.
Despite signing a long-term contract extension not too long ago following impressive displays in the 2022/23 campaign, Dani Ceballos has become somewhat of a forgotten man at Real Madrid this season. There is now uncertainty surrounding the Spaniard’s future.
As reported by Defensa Central (via Fichajes), Ceballos is seriously considering his departure from the club in the upcoming transfer window. Limited playing time has prompted the Spanish player to request a transfer in the hopes of finding a place where he can fully showcase his qualities and potential.
It’s worth noting that Ceballos spent a considerable time out injured earlier this season. Since returning to fitness, he has been granted minutes off the bench by Carlo Ancelotti. However, Ceballos has yet to start a single game this season.
Interest in Ceballos’ signature is believed to exist, should he decide to leave Real Madrid in the near future. Among the interested clubs is Aston Villa, currently managed by Unai Emery.
