Dani Carvajal’s Injury Woes Deepen, Prolonging Absence for Real Madrid
Real Madrid’s injury troubles are escalating, with Dani Carvajal’s situation appearing graver than initially anticipated.
Although Carlo Ancelotti had previously confirmed Carvajal’s absence from their Champions League opener against Union Berlin on Tuesday, there was hope that he might recover in time for the highly anticipated derby against Atletico Madrid on Sunday.
However, a scan conducted on Friday morning delivered disheartening news, revealing that Carvajal’s injury had not improved as expected. According to reports from Relevo, he is now set to be sidelined for an additional ten days. Having already missed the match against Union Berlin, Carvajal will now sit out games against Atletico, Las Palmas at home on Wednesday, and an away encounter with Girona on Saturday.
While there’s a possibility he could theoretically be available for the following Tuesday’s clash against Napoli in the Champions League, his return may be touch-and-go. Given Carvajal’s history of muscle issues in recent seasons, Ancelotti is unlikely to rush his return.
This setback forces Real Madrid to rely on Lucas Vazquez or Nacho Fernandez to step into the right-back role for the upcoming three matches, contingent on the desired profile for each game. Carvajal’s injury arrives at an inopportune moment for both the player and the club, considering his excellent form at the start of the season.
