Confirmed: Real Madrid informs Vinicius and Rodrygo where they will play this season

Vinicius y Rodrygo

Real Madrid Confirms Vinicius and Rodrygo Will Stay This Season, Despite summer transfer speculation, both Brazilian forwards are set to remain key pieces in Xabi Alonso’s plans.

After months of speculation surrounding the futures of Vinicius Júnior and Rodrygo Goes, Real Madrid has made its position clear. According to OK Diario, neither player will be leaving the club before the transfer window closes on September 1st at 23:59.

Vinicius Stays Despite Frustration

Following the match against Oviedo—where Vinicius started on the bench—rumors emerged that the Brazilian was considering a change of scenery. However, Madrid never entertained the idea of letting him go at this stage of the season. His performance after coming on, where he played a decisive role in two goals, reaffirmed his importance to the squad.

Coach Xabi Alonso addressed his decision to leave Vini out of the starting XI:

“Every player is different. Respect must always be the same, but relationships vary. In football, decisions are made for the team. Today was one of those cases.”

On his strong impact as a substitute, Alonso added:

“He came in very well and was decisive in both goals. I’m happy for him. We need everyone—the starters and those who come from the bench. There will be plenty of matches for all.”

Rodrygo Also Staying Put

Rodrygo’s situation was also scrutinized this summer, particularly after his reduced role at the Club World Cup, where he lost prominence after the opening match. Despite outside interest, the forward never seriously considered leaving, prioritizing his future at Real Madrid, where he is confident of regaining his influential role.

Alonso praised his performance in the recent clash with Oviedo:

“He had a good game. In the first half, he combined well with Carreras, Mbappé, and Güler. He created one-on-one situations and had shots, though it was difficult to find space as Oviedo defended deep. I liked his contribution. After last week, we needed everyone, and Rodrygo is part of that.”

When asked about Rodrygo’s absence against Osasuna, Alonso played down any controversy:

“Nothing is happening. The Club World Cup was a different context. Today was just a match. What matters is this season, and of course, I count on Rodrygo. It’s only one game—there’s no need to overanalyze. If in three months the situation is the same, then we can talk. For now, it’s just circumstances and my decisions.”

With the club’s stance confirmed, both Vinicius and Rodrygo will remain part of Real Madrid’s attacking arsenal this season, as Alonso looks to balance minutes and keep his squad fully engaged for the challenges ahead.
