Chaos in Munich: Star Player Expresses Desire to Leave Bayern Hours Before Facing Madrid
In a recent interview just hours before Bayern Munich’s clash with Real Madrid at the Allianz Arena, one of the club’s most important players has sparked speculation with his candid remarks about his future.
As Real Madrid prepares for a crucial encounter against Bayern Munich, both teams are dealing with injuries. While most of the Bavarian players have returned to training from the sidelines, one absentee from the last Bundesliga match remains sidelined: Matthijs de Ligt.
The Dutch center-back granted an interview to Ajax’s official television channel, where he made a statement that caught everyone by surprise: he’s considering his future away from Bayern Munich. When asked if he would like to return to Ajax, de Ligt responded, “I occasionally think about it and believe it will happen. I played three years in the first team, a relatively short period, I thought it could be longer.”
He seems so convinced of this idea that he asserts, “If I had the opportunity to return to Ajax, I would love to do it.” Furthermore, de Ligt wouldn’t hesitate to leave Bayern Munich at the end of the season, provided that Ajax considers his return: “If I had to decide today, I would love to.”
Leaving the Door Open In addition to his remarks about his potential departure, de Ligt also made some interesting comments about one of his compatriots in European elite football: “Does this also apply to De Jong? I suppose so,” although de Ligt cannot confirm it definitively. Despite being far from the Netherlands, the defender confesses, “I still follow Ajax, of course. They’re not going through their best moment, and it’s sad to see, but I always follow them and rejoice when they win.”
“Of course, you always miss Ajax! I grew up with those guys who were in the team. In total, I played here for 10 years, so it’s normal to miss all those people I knew.” This sentiment could be one of the reasons that led him to consider a return to Dutch football after spending so much time at other top European clubs like Juventus and Bayern Munich.
