Carlo Ancelotti Expected to Depart Real Madrid at Season’s End
Real Madrid’s manager, Carlo Ancelotti, is reportedly “expected” to leave the club at the conclusion of the current season, as per recent reports in Spain. Despite Ancelotti publicly expressing his desire to remain at the club, his contract is set to expire at the season’s end, and no discussions have taken place regarding an extension. Amidst this backdrop, Brazil has shown substantial interest in the Italian manager.
Ednaldo Rodrigues, President of the Brazilian Football Confederation (CBF), has openly stated that Ancelotti could potentially take over the reins of the Brazilian national team before or after the Copa America tournament next summer. In anticipation of this move, Fluminense manager Fernando Diniz has been appointed as an interim manager.
Miguel Angel Diaz, a prominent figure in Spanish football, has mentioned on Cadena Cope that it is “expected” that Ancelotti will depart Real Madrid at the end of the season. While there are no formal agreements with Brazil, Diaz notes that Ancelotti would need to provide a response to Brazil by December 31st at the latest.
If Ancelotti’s tenure at Real Madrid is indeed concluding, the pool of potential candidates for his replacement is not extensive. While Julian Nagelsmann had previously been linked, his appointment as the head coach of the German national team has made it less likely. Familiar names such as Zinedine Zidane, Jose Mourinho, and Raul Gonzalez have all been mentioned as potential options, but Xabi Alonso is emerging as the favorite choice, given his successful role at Bayer Leverkusen.
