Brahim Diaz’s Limited Playing Time at Real Madrid Raises Speculation About His Future
Real Madrid’s La Liga campaign has kicked off on a strong note, with just two points dropped in their first ten games and a standout performance from Jude Bellingham operating behind the strikers. However, another summer acquisition, Brahim Diaz, hasn’t had the same level of success this season.
Brahim Diaz has seen only 117 minutes of action in Real Madrid’s 12 games, with just one start. His notable performance and goal against Las Palmas at home, where he was named the man of the match while filling in for Bellingham, marked a bright spot. But since then, his playing time has been significantly limited.
Reports from Sport suggest that if Carlo Ancelotti continues to exhibit a clear lack of interest in playing Brahim, the young talent may seek a transfer next summer, with Real Madrid open to a €20 million departure. Relevo has also highlighted his lack of prominence under Ancelotti, though they stop short of predicting a sale.
Adding to Brahim’s challenge is the impending return to fitness of Arda Guler, which may further reduce his opportunities as he competes with the Turkish wonderkid for minutes.
The primary issue for Brahim is that he returned from a two-year loan at Milan with the expectation of more playing time, but this was before Guler’s signing. Moreover, the team’s new formation offers only two realistic positions for Brahim: the right-sided forward or the free role behind the strikers. Bellingham is set to occupy the bulk of the minutes in the latter role, while Rodrygo Goes and Joselu Mato are in contention for the former. It may not be a matter of Ancelotti disliking Brahim; instead, it might be a challenge to find a place for him within the team. Regardless of the reason, the result for the player remains the same—limited playing time.
