Asensio Predicts What Awaits Arda Güler at Real Madrid: “He’s Still…”

Marco Asensio Arda Güler

The former Madrid star praises Arda’s evolution and believes his ceiling is far higher

Marco Asensio, now playing for Fenerbahçe, knows Real Madrid more than well—and he has shared his thoughts on Arda Güler’s current situation at the club. Speaking to Fenerbahçe’s official television channel, the former Madrid winger praised the young Turkish talent and offered a very optimistic forecast for his future.

“When you arrive at Real Madrid, there’s always an adaptation period, and I think he has already overcome it,” Asensio began. He then described the qualities that make Arda stand out:

“He’s a very talented player and has a great future ahead of him at Real Madrid. With more minutes and regularity, he will continue growing. He’s still young and can contribute a lot to the team.”

Asensio is fully convinced that Güler is moving in the right direction:

“He’s on the right path, playing good matches. He’s a player of great quality who will surely keep improving and contribute even more to Real Madrid.”

According to Asensio, what we’ve seen so far is only the beginning:

“Arda is extremely talented. I think he will reach a much higher level than the one he has now. As he gets more playing time, he’ll have more chances to show his value and evolve toward an even better level.”

These words show that Asensio truly believes Arda can forge a successful long-term career at Real Madrid—something very few players achieve. Inside the club, the sentiment is similar: Madrid’s staff are pleased with Güler’s progress and consider him the player who has improved the most compared to last season.

A Different Arda Güler

From the moment Xabi Alonso arrived in Madrid, he has placed his trust in Arda. The Basque coach has given him a central role in his tactical setup, and Güler has responded brilliantly. Beyond footballing aspects, even his personality has changed. He’s no longer the shy young man he was on arrival; recently, he has even been seen giving instructions to teammates on the pitch—unthinkable only months ago.

Florentino Pérez and his closest circle believe Güler will become a key piece in Madrid’s future. He is already important, but—like Asensio—they expect him to keep progressing. If he does, it will be the best possible sign for both his career and the club.
