Arda Guler Chooses Real Madrid Over Barcelona, Angering Fenerbahce
The future of Arda Guler, the Turkish teenage sensation, has been the center of intense speculation in recent weeks, with several top clubs across Europe being linked to the talented youngster.
While Barcelona and Real Madrid were considered frontrunners for Guler’s signature, he has made the decision to join the latter. Barcelona had initially been in a favorable position to secure the 18-year-old’s services, but he has instead opted to join their El Clasico rivals.
This choice has left Guler’s current club, Fenerbahce, furious, as reported by MD. Fenerbahce’s President, Ali Koc, had preferred Guler to join Barcelona, as it would have allowed him to remain at the club for the upcoming season.
Barcelona had previously agreed on a deal with Fenerbahce that would have seen Guler stay in Turkey for the 2023-24 season before joining Barcelona next summer. This arrangement was made because Barcelona believed that Guler would not be eligible for registration in LaLiga due to the club’s ongoing financial constraints.
However, it is now Real Madrid that Guler is set to join this summer, with the deal nearing completion shortly after a fee was agreed upon with Fenerbahce on Wednesday.
