Ancelotti’s Decision: Courtois or Lunin for the Champions Final Revealed
Carlo Ancelotti has reportedly made up his mind ahead of the Wembley showdown.
The Italian coach faces a crucial decision before taking on Borussia Dortmund. Andriy Lunin continues to impress, but Courtois is now available.
“If Courtois mainly features in the upcoming La Liga matches, his presence in the final is almost certain. Ancelotti knows that Courtois’ presence on the field provides a greater guarantee of victory, despite absolute confidence in Lunin,” Relevo reported.
Minutes later, The Athletic, via Mario Cortegana, corroborated this information. “Various sources from Valdebebas affirm that Courtois is the favorite to start against Dortmund in the final. They still see Courtois as the best goalkeeper in the world,” the journalist states.
This has somewhat disappointed the majority of Madridistas, who believe Ancelotti should maintain meritocracy with all squad players. Andriy Lunin has earned the affection and respect of all fans.
Thibaut Courtois never lost that, but after more than 8 months sidelined and Lunin’s outstanding performances, perhaps it would be fair for the Ukrainian to finish the season.
However, Ancelotti must prioritize winning the final, and if he and the coaching staff believe Courtois is at 100% and the best goalkeeper in the world, he should start in the final.
