Alphonso Davies Breaks Silence on Failed Real Madrid Transfer

After months of speculation linking Alphonso Davies to Real Madrid, the Canadian left-back has put an end to the rumors. Speaking on his Twitch channel, Davies stated clearly:
“The Real Madrid talk was just rumors. A lot of people believed it, but they were just rumors.”
With this statement, Davies officially shuts down the ongoing narrative that suggested his move to the Spanish capital was imminent. Instead, he has committed his future to Bayern Munich, signing a contract extension that keeps him at the German club until 2030.
Real Madrid Turns to Alternatives
Despite missing out on Davies, Real Madrid continues its search for a new left-back. One of the leading options is Álvaro Carreras, a product of Madrid’s youth academy currently playing for Benfica. Carreras has had an impressive season, particularly in the Champions League, where he stood out in a match against FC Barcelona, effectively neutralizing rising star Lamine Yamal.
Another potential target is Alejandro Grimaldo, who could also fill the gap Davies might have occupied.

Bayern Strengthens with Leverkusen Talent
Meanwhile, Bayern Munich is reinforcing its squad. The Bavarian giants are close to signing Jonathan Tah, the German international center-back from Bayer Leverkusen, whose contract expires on June 30. Tah has spent the last three seasons under the guidance of Xabi Alonso.
There’s also growing speculation that Florian Wirtz, one of Europe’s most exciting young talents, could join Bayern from Leverkusen for a fee in the region of €130–150 million.
A New Look for Madrid
Real Madrid, on their part, are shaping a new and formidable squad for the future. Following the expected arrivals of Trent Alexander-Arnold and Dean Huijsen, the club is also targeting a high-caliber left-back and central midfielder. These reinforcements are seen as essential, especially after a season marred by defensive injuries and the departure of midfield legend Toni Kroos.
In the end, while Alphonso Davies won’t be donning the white shirt, Madrid is far from done. Their pursuit of Carreras or Grimaldo could still solidify a position that remains a priority in the summer transfer window.
