Following Ramos’ arrival, Rayados de Monterrey might continue targeting high-profile signings, as the Spanish defender’s presence could attract other major stars. According to Turkish journalist and transfer expert Ekrem Konur, the Nuevo León-based club is considering making a move for Luka Modric, which would represent another massive step in their ambitious project.
Luka Modric has been one of Real Madrid’s most crucial players in recent years, forming an iconic midfield duo with Toni Kroos. However, according to reports, the Croatian playmaker could soon join Liga MX with Rayados de Monterrey.
Luka Modric’s Dream of Retiring at Real Madrid
It is well known that Sergio Ramos and Luka Modric share a strong friendship after spending years together at Real Madrid. In that sense, the Spanish defender might try to convince Modric to join him at Rayados at the end of the current season.
However, Modric has previously expressed his desire to retire at Real Madrid. If he maintains his high level of performance and wishes to continue playing, the club could offer him a contract extension for another season. If that happens, his move to Mexico would be completely ruled out.
