Ancelotti’s Warning to Güler and Endrick: “You’ll Warm the Bench”

The coach praises Güler’s performance but makes his stance clear
Carlo Ancelotti has sent a clear message to his young stars after Real Madrid’s victory over Celta. The Italian coach emphasized that Arda Güler and Endrick will have to go through time on the bench if they want to become great players.
“To succeed at Real Madrid, you first have to warm the bench,”
Ancelotti stated in the post-match press conference—direct words aimed at rising young talents.

Güler, the standout against Celta
The Turkish international was one of the key players in the match. He played 83 minutes, scored a spectacular goal, and provided an assist, playing a vital role in Madrid’s win.
So far this season, Güler has clocked 1,312 minutes in 39 matches, scoring 5 goals and assisting 8 times.
Despite his strong performance, Ancelotti made it clear that Güler still has room to grow:
“The Güler of September is clearly not the same Güler we see today. He’s changed a lot, especially physically,” he said.
“I see him much stronger mentally. Pressure used to affect him more. Now he’s more confident. When he makes a mistake, he no longer sees it as the end of the world.”

Endrick, left on the bench
The young Brazilian didn’t play against Celta, but has already logged 661 minutes in 34 appearances this season, scoring 7 goals, including 5 in the Copa del Rey.
Ancelotti included Endrick in his reflection:
“He has all the ingredients to become a great player in Real Madrid’s history. But like everyone else, he must learn, work… and warm the bench.”
The coach made it clear that his responsibility is to the whole squad, not just individual players:
“My job is to manage the team, not focus on one player.”
And he closed with a strong statement:
“Real Madrid’s history tells us: you have to warm the bench before becoming a starter.”
Güler is shining, and Endrick continues to develop—but Ancelotti’s message doesn’t change: the bench is part of the journey. Only through that path can they reach the top at the Santiago Bernabéu.
