Real Madrid’s Transfer Window Success Clouded by Striker Search: Potential System Change Ahead
Real Madrid’s ongoing transfer window has yielded impressive results with the acquisitions of Fran Garcia, Brahim Diaz, Jude Bellingham, Joselu Mato, and Arda Guler. However, one key void remains unfilled—the departure of Karim Benzema to Al-Ittihad has left a void yet to be replaced.
Efforts to secure a new number nine, including pursuits of Harry Kane and Kylian Mbappe, have thus far proved fruitless for the Spanish giants. As a result, Real Madrid faces the prospect of starting the season without a top-level striker. Consequently, rumors have surfaced suggesting a potential shift in manager Carlo Ancelotti’s tactical approach from the familiar 4-3-3 formation to a 4-3-1-2 system.
During a media interaction on Friday, Ancelotti seemed to tacitly endorse these speculations, stating, “Given what we have done in the transfer market, it’s possible that we may adopt a different system this year. We should not forget the successful systems we have employed in recent years, but we must strive to discover a new style. Our upcoming tour of the USA, an important phase of pre-season, will serve as a testing ground.”
While Real Madrid continues its pursuit of a new number nine, the potential system change could prove effective in adapting to the situation if securing a deal with desired targets proves elusive.
