Federico Valverde’s Playing Status Hangs in the Balance as Decision Looms

Following an incident that occurred in April at the Santiago Bernabeu parking area, reports emerged of a confrontation between Federico Valverde and Alex Baena after the Real Madrid vs. Villarreal match.

Allegedly, Valverde had punched Baena, prompting the matter to be reported to the National Police and the RFEF’s Anti-Violence Committee. However, the Spanish courts recently announced the incident as “not proven,” clearing Valverde of any criminal charges.

Nevertheless, Valverde still faces the possibility of a ban from playing for Real Madrid. The Anti-Violence Committee referred the case to the Competition Committee, and according to MD, the final proposal is now in their hands.

The three members of the disciplinary body, namely Carmen Perez, Pablo Mayor, and Fernando Sequeira, have a period of 10 working days to reach a decision on whether to impose sporting sanctions on Valverde.

Real Madrid will receive the verdict by July 26th, determining Valverde’s availability for the upcoming season. The club remains hopeful that he will be able to participate.
