22-year-old striker Emerges as a Potential Real Madrid Target for Next Summer
As Kylian Mbappe’s contract with Paris Saint-Germain approaches its expiration at the end of the season, Real Madrid’s pursuit of the French superstar seems almost inevitable. Yet, the club could still be in the market for another striker, as Joselu Mato is currently on loan from Espanyol.
One promising option on their radar is Santiago Gimenez. The 22-year-old has been delivering sensational performances this season for Feyenoord, finding the back of the net 12 times in just eight Eredivisie appearances.
Feyenoord legend Willem van Hanegem expressed his belief to the Manchester Evening News that Gimenez possesses the qualities needed to make the leap to a club like Real Madrid. He stated, “He has the qualities to play at the absolute top, in England or Spain. It would be great if he plays for Real Madrid or Manchester United. He will only remain at Feyenoord for the time being. Everyone likes him very much; he doesn’t get nervous when he misses an opportunity. He doesn’t get stuck in it, that’s a sign that things are going well in his head. He remains calm, he knows he will be a top scorer.”
While securing Gimenez’s services may not come cheap, this is unlikely to deter Real Madrid, as the Mexican international aligns well with their transfer policy. The question that remains is whether they will make a move for him next summer.
